New Pickleball Lighting Coming to Rotary Park in La Salle, Set to Open by April 15

Pickleball Lighting Coming to Rotary Park: The La Salle City Council has approved a $14,400 bid for VJF Contracting Corporation to install lighting at the new pickleball courts at Rotary Park. The city hopes to have the courts fully operational by April 15, providing residents with access to recreational pickleball play well into the evening.

Expanding the City’s Pickleball Facilities

This lighting project is part of La Salle’s continued efforts to expand its pickleball facilities, an initiative that has been gaining momentum in the community. Back in September, the city opened six new pickleball courts at Rotary Park, increasing the number of available courts in La Salle to 12.

These courts joined the six previously opened at Hegeler Park on September 11, giving pickleball enthusiasts more options for play.

Significant Grant Funding for Rotary Park

The city’s commitment to growing its pickleball facilities was further supported when, in January, La Salle was awarded a $300,000 Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development Grant.

The grant, administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, is dedicated to outdoor recreational improvements at Rotary Park.

Of the total amount, $100,000 will go toward the pickleball courts, and $110,000 will fund parking lot resurfacing, making the area more accessible and welcoming for all visitors.

Mayor’s Remarks on Future Plans

Mayor Jeff Grove shared that the city’s major plans for Rotary Park are primarily focused on enhancing existing recreational facilities.

In addition to the lighting installation, Grove mentioned that the city plans to introduce a sledding hill at the park next year, but otherwise, no further major projects are expected for the park at this time.

The La Salle City Council has approved a $14,400 contract to install pickleball lighting at Rotary Park, with hopes to have the courts open by April 15. This initiative is part of a broader effort to expand pickleball facilities in the city, including the recent addition of 12 total courts at Rotary and Hegeler Parks. The city was also awarded a $300,000 grant to fund improvements, including the lighting, courts, and parking lot upgrades at Rotary Park.
