The Ladybug Classic pickleball tournament is returning for its fourth year, set for April 19–20, 2025, at Pouncey Tract Park in Glen Allen, Virginia. This outdoor tournament will feature a weekend full of competitive doubles play, with various skill and age divisions for men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles.
Tournament Details
The Ladybug Classic is part of the Atlantic Union Bank Performance Series and will take place on 12 brand-new outdoor pickleball courts, including two covered grandstand courts.
The pickleball event will feature multiple divisions, including Junior/Youth, 19+, 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+, and Open. Players will compete in a round-robin format with single-elimination rounds to follow.
Open Division participants will compete for prize money, with payouts for the top 3 teams/players. The tournament will also be live-streamed, with gold medal matches broadcasted each day on Performance Pickleball’s YouTube channel.
Registration and Fees
Registration opens on February 26, 2025, and closes on April 11, 2025. The registration fee is $55 per player, which includes a tournament t-shirt and other sponsor giveaways.
Players will also need to pay additional event fees: $15 for Skill & Age Divisions and $30 for Open Divisions. There will be a non-refundable service fee of $5 per event, up to a maximum of $10.
Participants are urged to register early to ensure their spot and receive their preferred shirt size. Teams must have both partners registered for doubles events, or they will be waitlisted.
Junior/Youth Division
The Junior/Youth Division will feature co-ed doubles, with players registered individually and paired up for the event. The minimum age for participation is 12, and players can compete until they are 17. No additional fees apply for this division.
Rules and Format
The Ladybug Classic will follow USA Pickleball 2025 rules. Skill & Age divisions will use a round-robin format, with matches played to 11 points, win by 2. The Open Division will feature double-elimination brackets, with gold medal matches played best 2 out of 3 games to 11 points.
The Junior/Youth division will use a scramble format, allowing players to team up with others on the day of the event. The matches for this division will also be held in a relaxed, friendly environment, giving younger players a chance to enjoy competitive play.
Prize Money and Trophies
The top 3 teams/players in each Open Division will share in a prize pool of up to $10,000. Medals will also be awarded to the top 3 in each bracket, providing recognition for all levels of competition.
Important Dates
The cancellation deadline for a full refund is April 4, 2025. Registration will close on April 11, 2025. Players must be registered and paid by this date to ensure participation.
Venue and Parking
The pickleball tournament will be held at Pouncey Tract Park, which is equipped with ample free parking next to the courts. The event organizers are preparing for possible weather disruptions, with a backup indoor venue at Performance Pickleball RVA in Henrico.
