Hazlet Launches Pickleball Courses: Hazlet residents eager to learn or enhance their pickleball skills can now enroll in beginner and intermediate classes at the James J. Cullen Center, 1776 Union Ave. These six-week sessions offer a structured way to develop technique, strategy, and confidence while enjoying the game’s social and health benefits.

Why Play Pickleball?

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S., combining elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It’s an excellent workout, improving cardiovascular health, balance, and coordination while being easy on the joints. It’s also a social sport, helping players connect with others in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Class Details and Schedule

  • Beginner Class: Tuesdays, March 11 – April 15, from 6 to 8 p.m.

    • Learn the fundamentals: proper grip, basic strokes, serving, and court positioning.
    • Develop confidence and consistency in your gameplay.
  • Intermediate Class: Thursdays, March 27 – May 1, from 7 to 9 p.m.

    • Focus on strategy, shot placement, dinking, and advanced techniques.
    • Improve your footwork, game awareness, and shot control.
  • Location: James J. Cullen Center, 1776 Union Ave, Hazlet, NJ

  • Fee: $60 for six weeks

  • Eligibility: Hazlet residents only

What to Expect?

Each class includes hands-on coaching, skill drills, and real match play, making learning both effective and fun. Players will gain a better understanding of game rules, scoring, and techniques while developing their skills in a supportive group setting.
