The Dill Dinkers Indoor Pickleball Club officially opened its doors on March 5, 2025, in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Located in a former Sam’s Club at 95 Matthews Drive, this new indoor facility features eight pickleball courts, an event space, and a wide range of services for players of all levels.
New Indoor Facility for Pickleball Players
The Dill Dinkers Indoor Pickleball Club occupies 20,785 square feet of the 70,000-square-foot space, previously used by Sam’s Club. The club offers indoor pickleball courts, complete with fences and digital reservation systems, making it easier for members and visitors to enjoy the sport.
The venue also features a ball machine and provides access to a variety of pickleball activities, including clinics, private lessons, round robins, and leagues. Additionally, it is available for private event rentals.
Graeme Joffe, a South African pickleball professional with more than seven years of experience on Hilton Head Island, serves as the club’s director of operations. He has been teaching tennis and pickleball on the island and explained how the growing interest in pickleball has completely shifted the focus of his clients.
Pickleball Growth in Hilton Head
When Graeme Joffe first began teaching, only 20 percent of his clients were interested in pickleball. However, the sport’s popularity on the island has surged, and now, 100 percent of his clients play pickleball.
“The addiction is real, and that’s why you’ve got nearly 40 million people in the USA playing pickleball.” – (Joffe)
Dill Dinkers is part of a larger initiative to expand pickleball facilities across Coastal South Carolina. This initiative is driven by Pickleball Brothers, a business venture founded by Scott Johnson, Zach Larichiuta, Max Johnson, and Wayne Johnson. The company plans to open additional locations in the area, fueling the sport’s growth in the region.
Inclusive and Social Sport for All Ages
According to Joffe, one of the reasons for pickleball’s rapid rise is its accessibility for players of all ages.
“I don’t know another sport where you can have an eight-year-old and an eighty-year-old playing on the same court. That’s a really good thing.” – (Joffe)
This makes pickleball a unique sport, as it encourages social interaction and is suitable for players from diverse backgrounds and age groups.
