Delhi Welcomes 2 New Pickleball Courts: Delhi, Iowa, is set to celebrate a milestone in community recreation with the dedication of two eagerly awaited pickleball courts at Silver Lake Park. Scheduled for July 27 at 11 a.m., the dedication will coincide with the town’s annual Delhi Daze event, marking the culmination of an 18-month effort by dedicated project partners and stakeholders.
Nancy Preussner, a committee member of Delhi’s Keep Iowa Beautiful (KIB) Hometown Pride initiative and owner of Roast and Toast, expressed the community’s anticipation: “People come in and ask, ‘When can we play?’ They are so excited that there will be pickleball in Delhi.”
The initiative sprang from a 2023 KIB Hometown Pride meeting, following a community survey that highlighted pickleball as a top interest. Supported by a five-year commitment from the Hometown Pride program, volunteers and a community coach diligently pursued the project through fundraising efforts. Private donations totaling $10,563, strengthened by a Rural Enrichment grant of $20,000 and additional contributions from local enthusiasts, including a generous $20,000 donation, ensured the project’s success.
The dedication ceremony promises to be a highlight of Delhi’s summer festivities, celebrating not only the new pickleball courts but also the community’s unity and vision for a vibrant future.
