Free Pickleball At Tautphaus Park For Launch Of New Courts

Free Pickleball At Tautphaus Park: In an exciting development for pickleball enthusiasts in Idaho Falls, the Parks and Recreation Department has announced a special promotion to celebrate the opening of the new pickleball courts at Tautphaus Park. Starting this Thursday, residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to use these state-of-the-art facilities free of charge for one week.

Following the initial free period, which ends on July 24, the city will introduce affordable rates to ensure continued access. Local residents can enjoy the courts for just $5 per person per hour, while non-residents will pay a modest fee of $6—an effort to make the courts accessible to all who wish to participate, as highlighted in a recent press release.

Located within the Joe Marmo/Wayne Lehto Ice Rink facility, the pickleball courts are conveniently accessed through the garage door opposite the zoo entrance. These courts are seasonal, operating from May through August, and are open every day from 8 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. In total, there are five courts available, with three designated for reservations and two set aside for drop-in play, catering to a wide range of scheduling preferences and playing styles.

To secure their court time, reservations can be made through the Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation website at https://app.courtreserve.com/Online/Portal/Index/12660, where additional information about court availability, rules, and scheduling options is also provided.

PJ Holm, the Director of Parks and Recreation, expressed enthusiasm about the new initiative, stating, “We listened to our community and thought outside the box to create a brand-new opportunity for the pickleball players in our area, We wanted to provide this free opportunity to highlight this great new recreational amenity for our residents.”
