Michigan’s Largest Indoor Pickleball Club, Greystone, Set to Open in Auburn Hills

Michigan’s Largest Indoor Pickleball Club: Pickleball’s rapid expansion in Michigan continues with the development of the Greystone Pickleball Club, a multi-million dollar indoor facility set to transform the local pickleball scene. The 60,000-square-foot complex will feature 18 courts on 4.9 acres, offering a premium experience for players of all skill levels.

The project was made possible through a collaborative effort involving multiple financial institutions, Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSOs), and business consultants across Michigan. Element 22 Commercial Group coordinated the financing, working alongside 15 financial institutions to bring the project to life.

“It has been a great pleasure working with Independence Business Consulting, Security Credit Union, Great Lakes Commercial Finance, Greystone Pickleball Club, and the 12 other financial institution participants that helped bring this project together,” said Kenneth Leonard, CEO of Element 22 Commercial Group.

A Premier Destination for Pickleball Players

The Greystone Pickleball Club aims to elevate pickleball in Michigan, providing a country club-inspired atmosphere with top-tier amenities. The facility is designed for both recreational and competitive play, offering opportunities for training, social events, and tournaments.

“Pickleball is such a communal, social sport where people can spend quality time together,” said Pat Chisholm, President of Greystone Pickleball Club. “Our development team, operations team, and equity partners are all family and friends, and we are so happy to have Security Credit Union and Element 22 involved as we start this venture.”

A Collaborative Financing Effort

This ambitious project required a strategic financing plan, led by Independence Business Consulting (IBC) and Great Lakes Commercial Finance (GLCF).

“A ground-up project of this magnitude is never easy to get funded, but we love a challenge at IBC,” said Dennis Murphy, CEO of Independence Business Consulting. “We partnered with Element 22, which syndicated the loan with their network of credit unions to make it happen.”

The loan was structured as an SBA 504 loan with the help of Great Lakes Commercial Finance, a Certified Development Company (CDC) based in Grand Rapids.

“This project is particularly exciting as it brings a new pickleball facility to Auburn Hills, impacting the local community and contributing to the east side’s growth,” said Gary Witkowski, VP of Business Development & Underwriting at Great Lakes Commercial Finance.

Economic and Community Impact

Beyond expanding pickleball access, the Greystone Pickleball Club is expected to contribute to Auburn Hills’ economic growth by attracting players, tournaments, and visitors.

“Security Credit Union is proud to support a project that brings new recreational opportunities and economic growth to Auburn Hills,” said Wallace Dawson, Commercial Services Manager of Security Credit Union. “Our commitment goes beyond financing—we are dedicated to investing in the communities within our field of membership.”

The Future of Pickleball in Michigan

As pickleball continues to grow in popularity, the Greystone Pickleball Club is set to become a premier destination for players in Eastern Michigan. With strong financial backing and a commitment to quality facilities and community engagement, this new venue will further cement Michigan’s place in the national pickleball scene.
