The first annual May Madness Pickleball Tournament, hosted by Control Freakz, will take place on May 2-3, 2025, at the Little Valley Pickleball Complex in St. George, Utah. Tournament Schedule and Format
Registration opens on March 10, 2025, and closes on April 30, 2025, with a $30 entry fee. Events will begin on Friday, May 2, at 6:00 PM MST with mixed doubles and junior divisions (12U, 14U, and 17U). On Saturday, May 3, men’s and women’s doubles will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM MST.
The competition format includes round-robin pools leading into a single-elimination bracket. Round-robin games will be played to 11 points, with a win-by-one rule, while bracket matches will be best of three, played to 11, win by two. Medals will be awarded for first, second, and third place.
Participation and Rules
All results will be submitted to the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) system. The tournament director has the authority to combine brackets based on skill or age levels if necessary. Players must secure a partner within 21 days of registering or risk being placed on a waitlist.
Check-in starts at 7:30 AM MST on both days, with games beginning at 8:00 AM MST. Final brackets and schedules will be available on pickleballbrackets.com by April 29, 2025.
Prizes and Special Events
Prize money will be awarded in the open doubles divisions:
- Men’s Open Doubles: 1st place – $200, 2nd place – $100, 3rd place – $50.
- Women’s Open Doubles: 1st place – $200, 2nd place – $100, 3rd place – $50.
A swag bag will be given to all players, and attendees can enjoy music, food, and vendors throughout the event. The Partner Best Dressed contest, with a “Bright Colors” theme, will also offer a special prize.
