Pickleball Expands in Henderson: New Indoor and Outdoor Pickleball Courts on the Way

Pickleball Expands in Henderson: Henderson, Kentucky, is set to welcome a new pickleball facility as Eric and Kate Stinson transform the former Skateway USA building into Pickleball USA. The couple, both avid pickleball players, purchased the building at auction in November and plan to begin construction in mid-April.

The facility, located on Franklin Avenue, will initially feature six indoor and six outdoor pickleball courts, with the potential for additional courts in the future.

Major Renovations Underway

One of the biggest challenges in repurposing the Skateway USA building is its 12-foot ceiling, which is too low for optimal pickleball play. To address this, the Stinsons plan to dig down seven feet, creating a 19-foot ceiling that meets professional standards.

“The building will look nothing like it does today,” said Eric Stinson, who is working with LA+D out of Newburgh on the redesign.

Expected Opening This Winter

With construction set to begin in April, the Stinsons aim to open the indoor courts by winter. The project is part of a surging trend of new dedicated pickleball facilities across the country, as the sport continues to gain popularity.
