HDSA Smash HD! Brings Pickleball and Charity Together for an Unforgettable Event

The HDSA Smash HD! The Charity Tournament will take place on May 18, 2025, at the Felipe Tennis & Pickleball Recreation Center in Mission Viejo, California. Hosted by the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) Orange County chapter, the event aims to raise funds for Huntington’s disease research and support services.

Tournament Format and Divisions

The tournament will feature Mixed Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Men’s Doubles, divided into three skill levels: Beginner (2.0-3.0), Intermediate (3.1-4.0), and Advanced (4.1-4.5+).

Matches will follow the schedule below:

  • Mixed Doubles: 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM (Check-in at 1:30 PM)
  • Women’s Doubles: 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM (Check-in at 4:30 PM)
  • Men’s Doubles: 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM (Check-in at 6:30 PM)

Each division is limited to eight teams, and participants must sign up with a partner. The tournament director reserves the right to adjust divisions as needed based on registration.

Registration and Refund Policy

Registration opens on January 1, 2025, at 8:00 AM PST and closes on May 4, 2025, at 11:55 PM PST. The entry fee is $100 per player.

Players who cancel by May 4 will receive a refund minus processing fees. No refunds will be issued after this date.

Venue and Spectator Information

The pickleball tournament will take place at Felipe Tennis & Pickleball Recreation Center, located at 27161 Nogal, Mission Viejo, California. Free parking is available, with overflow parking at Carl Hankey School across the street.

Spectators are welcome, and those unable to participate can support the event by donating directly to HDSA Orange County.

Health and Safety Guidelines

All participants must sign a waiver before playing. CPR and First Aid-certified staff will be on-site. Players are encouraged to bring water, shade, and seating. The event has a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol. Leashed pets are allowed but not permitted on the courts.

Weather Contingency

In case of adverse weather, the tournament director will decide whether to cancel or modify the event. With competitive matches and a charitable cause, the HDSA Smash HD! Charity Tournament promises an exciting day of pickleball while supporting families affected by Huntington’s disease.
