With warm weather arriving in Rochester, the outdoor pickleball courts at the Rochester Athletic Club (RAC) are officially open for the season. Players wasted no time hitting the courts, taking advantage of the sunshine and perfect playing conditions.
Pickleball Players Fill the Courts on Opening Day
The courts, which first opened in August 2023, saw strong attendance on their first day of the new season. Nearly every court was full as players of all skill levels gathered for friendly and competitive matches.
Among those taking advantage of the courts were Mayo High School tennis players, using their day off from school to get in some extra practice ahead of their season.
More Than Just a Sport – A Community
For many, pickleball at the RAC is about more than competition—it’s about building friendships. Mick Garvey and Jody Armstrong met on the pickleball courts and have formed a bond through the game.
Court Reservations Required for Members
The Rochester Athletic Club has eight outdoor courts, available exclusively for RAC members. Players must reserve courts in advance to secure playing time.
