Tindall Park Prepares for Pickleball Courts: Middletown residents and sports enthusiasts, mark your calendars! Starting July 22, 2024, Tindall Park’s beloved tennis and pickleball courts will undergo a transformative renovation to ensure they remain safe, functional, and enjoyable for all. The project is slated for completion by mid to late fall 2024, promising enhanced facilities that will elevate the playing experience to new heights.
The Middletown Recreation Department emphasizes the necessity of these updates, citing issues such as tree root interference causing cracks and uneven surfaces. Overhanging trees have also posed challenges by impeding sunlight, leading to prolonged wet conditions after rain and potential safety hazards. By strategically removing select trees, the Township aims to mitigate these issues and maintain high-quality courts that meet community expectations.
“We understand the importance of these trees to our community and the environment, and we have carefully planned this work to minimize impact. By addressing these issues through strategic tree removal, the Township aims to maintain high-quality, safe, and enjoyable tennis and pickleball courts for everyone.” stated a spokesperson from the Middletown Recreation Department.
The renovation project will be conducted in three work zones: Pickleball Courts 1-8, Pickleball Courts 9-16, and the park entrance with associated parking areas. Temporary closures of these areas will be necessary to facilitate the improvements, with the park temporarily closed to vehicular traffic for 3-4 days during certain phases of the work.
Anticipation is high among local players, who eagerly await the upgraded features and improved playing surfaces promised by these renovations. With an estimated completion date in mid to late fall 2024, the community can look forward to enjoying revitalized courts that enhance their sporting experience for years to come.
