Wilson Sheffield Park to Bring Pickleball Courts: The highly anticipated Wilson Sheffield Park in Collingwood is set to bring new recreational opportunities to the community, including six pickleball courts. Planned since 2023, the park will be located on Dey Drive, next to Admiral Collingwood Elementary School. The town received the three-acre parcel of land through the development of Indigo Estates.
Pickleball and Other Sports Facilities
Pickleball enthusiasts will have access to six dedicated courts, each measuring six metres by 13.4 metres (20 by 44 feet). All courts will be fully fenced, ensuring a great playing experience. In addition to pickleball, the park will feature three tennis courts, designed according to Tennis Canada standards, measuring 11 metres by 23.7 metres (36 by 78 feet).
Additional Park Amenities
Beyond pickleball and tennis, the park will include:
- Two three-on-three basketball courts, located near the pickleball and tennis area.
- A 2,100-square-foot washroom and storage building, featuring a covered seating area.
- An outdoor fitness circuit, equipped with push- and pull-up bars and step-up boxes.
- A public playground, designed for young children.
- 42 parking spaces with pedestrian access for convenience.
Project Timeline and Construction Plans
Although the project was initially expected to start in 2023, communications coordinator Julie Kaden confirmed that the tender for construction will be issued later this month for a 30-day period. If approved, construction could begin as early as June 2025, depending on the contractor’s schedule.
