Victor Lord Park Expanding Pickleball Courts: Pickleball players in Barrow County will face a temporary court closure starting April 14 as Victor Lord Park undergoes renovations. The project will expand the outdoor courts from six to 12 and include resurfacing, new signage, and improved fencing. The county expects the upgrades to be completed by mid-June, weather permitting.
Expanding to Meet Growing Demand
The renovation project aims to accommodate the surging popularity of pickleball in Barrow County. Parks and Recreation Director Zach Churchill stated, “We understand that pickleball is a popular and rapidly growing sport not only in Barrow County, but across the country. The work done to the courts will only enhance our ability to offer players of all skill levels and abilities the chance to play,” according to Barrow County.
Alternative Courts Available During Construction
While the outdoor courts are closed, players can use the indoor pickleball courts at the Parks and Recreation Building. Additionally, an outdoor court at the Barrow County Senior Center will be available for those who prefer playing outside.
Anticipated Completion by Mid-June
The renovation schedule depends on weather conditions, but officials hope to complete the project by mid-June. The improvements will provide more playing space and an upgraded experience for pickleball players once the courts reopen.
