The Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads (YVCHR) will host a pickleball tournament from October 3 to October 5, 2025, at Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort in Newport News, Virginia. The event will feature singles, doubles, and mixed doubles across multiple age and skill divisions.
This tournament serves as a fundraiser for YVCHR, an organization that engages youth ages 11-18 in volunteer opportunities. Registration opens on March 17, with an early entry fee of $25. The price increases to $35 after May 16.
Tournament Format and Schedule
The event will follow USAP 2025 rules in a round-robin format. Medal matches will be held on the dedicated courts at the venue.
- Friday, October 3: Men’s and women’s singles, plus a co-ed split-age division with one player under 50 and one over 50.
- Saturday, October 4: Men’s and women’s doubles.
- Sunday, October 5: Mixed doubles.
Matches will take place on 12 outdoor courts, including six dedicated pickleball courts and six temporary courts. Players must use USA Pickleball-approved paddles.
Registration and Fees
Event registration includes free sponsor giveaways. Players may enter multiple events, with a $10 fee per event. A non-refundable service fee of up to $10 applies for multiple registrations. Doubles teams must have both partners registered to secure a spot; incomplete teams will be waitlisted.
Cancellations before September 26 will receive a refund minus a $15 fee. After this date, entry fees are considered donations to YVCHR.
Venue and Weather Policy
The tournament will take place at Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort, with free parking available near the courts. Snacks and water will be provided for players.
As an outdoor event, weather delays are possible. Tournament officials will send updates about changes or cancellations. If most matches are postponed, a make-up day may be scheduled.
