Tacoma Public Library Foundation (TPLF) and Parks Tacoma are teaming up to host the first-ever Literacy is a Big Dill Pickleball Tournament. The event, scheduled for April 5-6, 2025, will take place at Eastside Community Center and First Creek Middle School. The tournament aims to raise awareness and funds for literacy programs in Tacoma.
The two-day event welcomes players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced competitors. Participants can register individually or as teams, choosing between recreational and competitive divisions. The registration fee is $65 per person or $130 per team. The event’s proceeds will go toward expanding access to Tacoma Public Library’s inclusive literacy programs.
A Tournament with a Purpose
This event is more than just a game. It promotes physical activity and lifelong learning. TPLF emphasizes the connection between sports and literacy, noting that just as athletics enhance physical and mental well-being, reading fosters cognitive development and curiosity.
By joining the tournament, players and sponsors will contribute to Tacoma Public Library’s mission to empower the community. Funds raised will support programs that bring people together to discover, connect, create, learn, and thrive.
