Sandals Saint Vincent’s Pickleball Event: Sandals Saint Vincent & the Grenadines has launched its first-ever Pickleball for a Cause event, bringing together resort guests and staff to raise funds for the Sandals Foundation. The competition, which began as a friendly challenge in January 2025, has quickly evolved into a successful fundraising effort, generating over $4,500 for local community projects.
A Friendly Match Sparks a New Tradition
The idea for the event started at a Diamond Lunch when a resort guest and his wife, both longtime pickleball players, challenged General Manager Tamon Allen to a match. They pledged a $500 donation to the Sandals Foundation if he accepted. Allen, eager for the challenge, agreed—only to realize he was facing seasoned players.
“We may not have won that particular match, but our guests are great sports and still made the donation! Now, the pickleball competition has taken off, and the donations are rolling in.” – (Mr. Allen)
The enthusiasm quickly spread, turning a simple match into an organized tournament. Guests, executives, and staff took part in the spirited event, which featured a bar, music, and a lively audience.
Supporting Local Communities Through Sport
The event aligns with Sandals Resorts’ mission to engage guests in meaningful ways while giving back to the community. According to Allen, the late founder Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart envisioned initiatives that build connections while supporting local causes.
“This pickleball competition creates lasting memories by bringing guests and team members together while also giving back to the communities of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines through Sandals Foundation initiatives. It’s a win-win!” – (Mr. Allen)
The Sandals Foundation directs 100% of guest donations toward projects in education, community development, and environmental conservation. Since its launch, the fundraiser has gained momentum, with continuous contributions from resort visitors.
Building on Early Success
Allen expressed gratitude for the guests and staff who contributed to the event’s success. He specifically acknowledged the efforts of Hotel Manager Justin Stevens, Red Lane Spa Manager Oshane Mason, Executive Chef Delroy Haye, Loyalty & Travel Manager Williston Willie, Projects Manager Trevor Lucas, and Red Lane Spa team member Tivoli Providence.
“I’m thrilled by how quickly this initiative has taken shape. It speaks volumes about the generosity of our guests, who we now consider family, and the dedication of our team. Even though we’re the newest Sandals resort, we rise to the challenge and exceed expectations every time!” – (Mr. Allen)
With such strong support, Pickleball for a Cause is set to become a recurring event at Sandals Saint Vincent. The resort plans to expand its community impact, reinforcing its commitment to guests and the local population.
