San Angelo’s Innovative Pickleball: Construction is moving forward on Smashers, a new pickleball and tennis facility with a restaurant in San Angelo. Located at 2521 Southwest Boulevard, the site has nearly completed its concrete work and foundational plumbing. Owners JC and Amber Gallagher expect an opening in the summer of 2025.
Key Features of the Facility
Smashers will offer seven indoor and two outdoor pickleball courts, along with an indoor tennis court. The venue will also include a full-service bar and restaurant, plus over 10,000 square feet of outdoor space with a playground. While walls have yet to go up, crews continue working on the site.
Inspired by Pickleball Passion
The Gallaghers were inspired to open Smashers after participating in the “Dink for Pink” pickleball tournament at Bentwood in October 2023. Seeing the sport’s growing popularity, they decided to create a facility that combines recreation and dining for the community.
Anticipated Opening and Community Impact
If construction stays on schedule, Smashers will open in summer 2025. The new venue is expected to provide a vibrant space for sports and social gatherings, boosting pickleball’s popularity in San Angelo.
