A new pickleball club in Moorestown is one step closer to reality after receiving approval from the Zoning Board. ACE Pickleball Club plans to open a facility in the East Gate Square shopping center, bringing the nation’s fastest-growing sport to more players in South Jersey.
ACE Pickleball, which already has locations nationwide, is expanding its presence in the region. Franchisees Ira Krassen and Eric Danvers, who opened a club in Voorhees last year, are now working on a larger venue in Moorestown. With the board’s approval, construction on the new facility can begin, with an expected opening in early fall, according to Butch Beri, ACE Pickleball’s programming manager.
Expanding Pickleball in South Jersey
The Moorestown location will be significantly larger than its Voorhees counterpart. The facility will span 32,950 square feet and include 11 courts, based on plans submitted to the Zoning Board. It will be housed in the former Michael’s store, incorporating space that was previously part of the Staples next door.
Beri emphasized the growing demand for pickleball in the region.
“(The) Voorhees (location) has been so successful,”. “And I know we have a huge pickleball community in South Jersey that is looking forward to us opening with more courts and a bigger facility in Moorestown.”(Butch Beri)
A Sport for Everyone
Pickleball has been growing in popularity across all age groups, according to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association. The sport, which blends elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, attracts players with its accessibility and short learning curve.
ACE Pickleball Club will welcome players of all skill levels. The facility will divide courts based on ability to ensure fair and enjoyable play. Members will have the flexibility to drop in anytime during open hours without needing reservations, though they can also book courts in advance at no extra charge.
Located on Nixon Drive, near the Moorestown/Mount Laurel border, the new club aims to further strengthen South Jersey’s pickleball community.
