Tipp City to Add Eight Courts at Kyle Park: Tipp City is moving forward with plans to construct eight pickleball courts at Kyle Park, the city’s largest community park. The project, estimated to cost $350,000, will replace two existing asphalt areas currently used as a playground and basketball court. Bids for the construction are open until March 25.
Community Support and Funding
The project has received strong community backing, with the Miami County Pickleball Association playing a key role in advocating for the courts. Currently, the nearest pickleball facilities are in Piqua and Troy, making this addition an important step for local players. The Tipp City Foundation has contributed a $50,000 grant to support the initiative.
City Manager Eric Mack expressed excitement about the project, stating,
“I’m very excited about the new pickleball courts coming to Kyle Park. This addition will further enhance the park’s amenities, and I have no doubt the courts will become a popular attraction for our community.”(Eric Mack)
Enhancing Recreation and Future Plans
Construction will involve removing old asphalt, installing new surfaces, building courts to USA Pickleball Association standards, and adding fencing, landscaping, and court markings. The courts align with Tipp City’s updated Parks Master Plan, which gathered input from over 500 residents to determine priorities for park improvements.
Mack emphasized the community’s role in making the project a reality, saying,
“This project has been especially rewarding to see come to fruition, as it was truly a grassroots effort led by the Miami County Pickleball Association. Their dedication and advocacy were instrumental in making this happen, and their work with our City Council helped bring this vision to life.”(Eric Mack)
Once completed, the courts will provide more recreational options for residents, promote active lifestyles, and potentially inspire similar projects in other communities.
