Pickleball Courts Coming to Fort Worth: A new indoor pickleball facility is coming to east Fort Worth, offering players a dedicated space to enjoy the fast-growing sport. Fort Worth Badminton Club plans to build a 30,000-square-foot indoor badminton and pickleball facility at 3001 Fisher Ave. in the Riverside neighborhood. The site, which has been unused for two decades, will be transformed into a sports hub by January 2026.
Approval for Zoning Change
On March 12, the Fort Worth Zoning Commission approved a zoning change to allow the project. The land was rezoned from “ER” neighborhood commercial restricted to “E” neighborhood commercial.
City staff reported that the indoor nature of the facility would prevent noise from affecting nearby residents. The Fort Worth City Council will make a final decision on April 8.
Convenient Location for Players
The new facility will offer a central location for pickleball players in the Fort Worth area. The site is just north of Interstate 30 and five minutes from downtown. It is also within a 15- to 20-minute drive from surrounding cities like Arlington, Burleson, Keller, and Benbrook.
Currently, the club plays at the Chisholm Trail Community Center on Sundays and Thursdays, but the new facility will provide a dedicated space for games and events. Club member Roy Lantang shared excitement about the project on Facebook, saying,
“Are y’all excited? We can’t wait to have our own facility in the city of Fort Worth!” – (Lantang)
Growing Interest in Pickleball
Pickleball has seen a surge in popularity across the U.S., particularly among younger players. The new facility aims to accommodate this growing demand by providing indoor courts that allow for year-round play. With an increasing number of local players and tournaments, the venue is expected to contribute to the sport’s expansion in Fort Worth and beyond.
