The Pad Brings Premier Indoor Pickleball Facility to Downtown Tucson

Pickleball Facility to Downtown Tucson: A new indoor racquet sports club, The Pad, has opened in Downtown Tucson at 300 S. Toole Avenue. The facility features nine pickleball courts, seven padel courts, and three table tennis courts, along with a bar and pro shop.

Year-round Play and Social Atmosphere

Owned by Andrew Mackie and Riva Mackie, The Pad aims to provide a premier playing experience for all skill levels. The club offers a variety of activities, including clinics, lessons, tournaments, social events, and league play.

“The goal of The Pad is to set up a premiere playing experience that satisfies the needs of everyone from beginners to top-level tournament players and is a place you want to hang around after your game.” – (Andrew Mackie)

The club encourages a social atmosphere, allowing players to unwind at the bar, discuss their matches, and support other competitors.

Padel and pickleball are great because they are so social. We want people to play hard and then cool down with their friends at the bar, rehash their highlights, and cheer for the other players on the court. So far, we’ve seen that The Pad can really become your home away from home.’” – (Andrew Mackie)

Growing Popularity of Pickleball and Padel

Pickleball and padel have seen rapid growth worldwide. While pickleball has gained popularity across the United States, padel has expanded to 25 million players in 90 countries, making it one of the fastest-growing sports globally.

“The reason these sports are exploding is simple: They are fun,” said Riva Mackie, a former No. 1 padel player.

“Pretty much anyone at any age can get on the court and learn the game. From there, they are hooked. They are having a blast, they feel themselves moving and getting fitter — without the pain and strain of going to the gym — they are meeting new friends. Padel and pickleball are perfect examples of sports you can play for life, and in many cases, can change your life.” – (Riva Mackie)

Memberships and League Play Available

Daily play is available, along with membership options for players of all skill levels. Leagues are now forming, and interested players can contact The Pad’s front desk for more details.
