Monday Pickleball Ladder League Ignites the Court—Who Will Climb to the Top?

A new pickleball league is set to begin at Riverwind Park in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. The Monday Pickleball Ladder League starts on April 28 and runs until July 7, 2025. Players will compete individually in a structured format, moving up or down the ladder based on their performance.

Organized by Minnesota Pickleball, the league provides an opportunity for players to improve their skills in a competitive yet friendly environment. The cost to participate is $65 per player. Matches will be held every Monday at 5:30 p.m. and last for approximately two to three hours.

League Format and Rules

The league follows a ladder format where participants compete as individuals. Each week, players are placed in pools based on their rating and face off against others with similar skills. Players do not need to register with a partner, as they will be paired with different players throughout the session.

Results from each match will be recorded in the Swish Sports app and posted on minnesotastatepickleball.com. Players are required to set up a free DUPR account and download the Swish Sports app before the first session. Those without a DUPR rating will be assigned a random starting position in the first week.

How Matches Are Played

Each session, players check in with the league coordinator before play begins. The Swish app then organizes players based on their league rating. The games follow this structure:

  • Players are grouped into pools of four or five.
  • They play one game with each person in their pool.
  • After the first round, pools are adjusted based on performance.
  • A second round is played with the new pool assignments.
  • Final results are recorded, updating the league standings for the next week.

The games will use Vulcan balls for the 2025 season. No substitutions are allowed, and players must be present to participate.

Weather and Refund Policy

In case of inclement weather, heat, or poor air quality, league coordinators will send email notifications about cancellations at least two hours before the start time. Participants should check their registered email for updates.

Refunds are available until one week before the league begins. If five or more sessions are canceled due to weather, players will receive a partial refund based on the number of weeks affected. However, if four or fewer cancellations occur, no refunds will be issued.

Looking Ahead

With pickleball’s rising popularity, the Coon Rapids Pickleball Ladder League offers a chance for players to improve their skills and enjoy competitive play. Organizers encourage participants to register early and prepare for an exciting season.
