Virginia Pickleboo Tournament Returns with a 40,000 Dollar Prize Pool and Fierce Competition

The 2025 Annual Virginia Pickleboo Tournament will take place from October 31 to November 2 at Pouncey Tract in Glen Allen, Virginia. This major pickleball event will feature competitive matches, special prizes, and a $40,000 prize pool. Players of all levels can participate, with medal winners earning a chance to compete in future tournaments.

The tournament is set to use all 24 courts at Pouncey Tract and is expected to sell out, as it has for the past three years. Registration costs $60 and covers event fees, referee support, and volunteer meals. Players who sign up before October 1 will receive an official tournament shirt. Those registering after will receive a pickleball towel instead. Swag bags will include a tournament pin, a pass to Pickleball Virginia Beach, and other surprises.

Tournament organizers have planned an early finish for Friday’s events to allow families time for Halloween trick-or-treating. All matches will have referees as long as they are available. A paddle raffle featuring top brands will also be held.

Tournament Format and Rules

The event follows a double-elimination format. Winners’ bracket matches will be played as best-of-three games to 11, winning by two points. The losers’ bracket will play single games to 15, also requiring a two-point lead. Players in the losers’ bracket can battle back for a chance to win the gold medal.

Some brackets may be merged due to the number of participants. Skill levels will be combined first, followed by age groups if necessary. Smaller brackets may shift to a round-robin format. Any adjustments will be announced before play begins.

Prize Money and New Additions

A total of $40,000 will be awarded across divisions. The open brackets require a minimum of seven teams to qualify for prize money, which will be distributed as follows:

  • Gold medalists receive 50% of the prize fund.
  • Silver medalists receive 30%.
  • Bronze medalists receive 20%.

New for this year, open-level divisions for ages 50 and up will also have prize money available.

No Refund Policy and Weather Considerations

Organizers have announced that no refunds will be issued. Players who withdraw will receive credit for a future event, minus a $15 fee. Since this is an outdoor tournament, weather delays may occur. If necessary, makeup days or event credits will be offered, but there is no indoor backup plan.

The Virginia Pickleboo Tournament is one of the most anticipated pickleball events in the region. With competitive matches, exciting prizes, and community engagement, it promises to be a thrilling weekend for players and fans alike.
