The Bill Martin Memorial Pickleball Scramble for Thrive Alliance will take place on Saturday, May 3, at CERA Sports Park’s 18-court pickleball complex. The event, honoring the late Bill Martin, will raise funds for Thrive Alliance’s Dementia and Care Partners Programming.
Honoring a Dedicated Pickleball Player
This is the second year of the tournament, which was created in memory of Martin, a beloved member of the Columbus pickleball community. He passed away in 2022 after battling Alzheimer’s disease.
Tournament Format and Entry Details
The event will follow a round-robin scramble format with five skill divisions: Beginner (2.0-2.4), Recreational (2.5-2.9), Intermediate (3.0-3.4), Competitive (3.4-3.9), and Advanced (4.0+). Each division will be limited to 16 players. The registration fee is $40 per person.
Supporting Dementia Care Programs
All proceeds will benefit Thrive Alliance’s programs, which provide engagement opportunities for people with dementia and support for their caregivers. The event aims to bring the community together for a good cause while celebrating Martin’s love for pickleball.
