Marlborough to Open New Courts: Marlborough will soon have new pickleball courts at Cluett Schantz Park. The Town Board approved the project on March 24, allowing work to begin near the park’s pavilion. Officials chose the location as the most cost-effective option, ensuring space for future players while accommodating other park visitors.
Plans for Pickleball Court Construction
Town Supervisor Scott Corcoran emphasized that the decision made financial and logistical sense.
“For what we have budgeted, what we have to do, and then put some additional parking along the road, I think this makes sense,” -(Scott Corcoran).
The new courts will avoid congestion at the park’s main entrance.
Councilman Manny Cauchi, along with other officials, visited the park last week and finalized the location for the four courts. The town’s Highway Department will begin groundwork, with contractors handling blacktop and fencing. Cauchi expects the courts to be ready by the end of summer.
Community Excitement for Pickleball Growth
Pickleball continues to gain popularity, and local demand has been strong.
“People have been asking about this like crazy, It’s been in the making for several years, and a lot of residents are very excited about it. Pickleball has become a leading sport for people of all ages.”-(Scott Corcoran)
The new courts will be part of a busy season at Cluett Schantz Park. Events planned by the town’s Recreation Committee include the Easter Egg Dash on April 19 at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome. “It will be a fast and furious event, so as a reminder to the community: Get there on time,” said Councilwoman Sherida Sessa.
