Troy University Pickleball Tournament: TROY, Ala. – A pickleball tournament at the Trojan Fitness and Wellness Center gave Troy University students a chance to unwind, compete, and connect with peers from around the world. Organized by the University Activities Council (UAC), the event provided a fun break from midterms and marked the return of student activities after spring break.
Students Compete in Friendly Matches
Students formed their own teams and battled in a best-of-three format, making the tournament both competitive and social.
“This event is just giving us a break from midterms and just starting back into the year,” said UAC’s Weekend Event Coordinator Javius Pruitt. “We have multiple events, and we had taken a break for spring break, and we are just kicking everything back off again.”
Many students enjoyed playing alongside teammates from different cultural backgrounds.
“I think playing with people from different parts of the world was my favorite part,” said student participant Bosi Filippo. “For example, my teammate is from Sweden, and I think that that was really cool.”
Winners Receive Prizes and Recognition
At the end of the tournament, three teams claimed top honors. Team Neymar secured first place, Pickle Perros took second, and Fyfan placed third.
The winners received prizes, including coolers, water bottles, pickleball paddles, and balls. Along with these rewards, they earned bragging rights and memorable photos to celebrate their achievements.
Social Event Encourages Student Connections
Beyond the competition, the tournament served as a way for students to meet new people and strengthen friendships.
“These types of events are nice to just meet different people,” Filippo told TrojanVision. “You are in college, so there are a lot of people to hang out with and have fun with all together.”
Spectators who didn’t compete gathered on the sidelines to cheer on their favorite teams, adding to the tournament’s energetic atmosphere.
Strong Turnout for the Event
Despite taking place right after spring break, the event attracted a solid number of participants and supporters.
“I feel like the turnout was quite wonderful, especially with us just coming back from spring break,” Pruitt said. “It’s just a great event for right now.”
