Mark Kundysek’s NexCourt business success: Mark Kundysek’s $250 investment has turned into a successful business that has thrived for decades. The Arlington resident started NexCourt after learning about Sport Court, a residential court manufacturer, in 1989. Kundysek became a part-time dealer and founded his company two years later.

Growth of NexCourt

Initially, Kundysek operated his business from his family home in Arlington. However, he moved to a brick-and-mortar location after his neighborhood was demolished for AT&T Stadium, the Dallas Cowboys’ home.

“Thank goodness the Cowboys came along because it kind of pushed me along and said you gotta go. You gotta go brick-and-mortar now and get your name out. We’ve been in Euless ever since.” – (Kundysek)

Located at 1127 S. Airport Circle, NexCourt has installed thousands of sports facilities in North Texas and Oklahoma.

Pickleball and Other Sports

With the rise in pickleball and other court sports, Kundysek reported an increase in business. “Both commercial and residential,” he stated. He noted that the company has promoted pickleball since 1989, providing starter equipment with every court sold. “Every court we build has pickleball lines and we stopped painting paddle tennis.”

Kundysek also mentioned that badminton is gaining popularity, with investors opening pay-for-play sports facilities. He explained that they often install courts for various sports, including badminton, volleyball, and pickleball.

Customization and Demand

NexCourt is a licensed dealer for Sport Court and has been for 35 years. Kundysek emphasized that they handle all of North Texas and Oklahoma. “Sport Court is made in America, it’s made in Salt Lake City,” he said. When selling a court, they order directly from Sport Court to their warehouse in Euless.

Currently, about 60% of their business is residential, with families and grandparents building courts for their children and grandchildren. The remaining 40% comes from commercial projects. Kundysek noted a significant demand for converting existing tennis courts into pickleball courts.

Future of Pickleball

Kundysek believes the rise of pickleball is here to stay. He remarked, “I think pickleball has. I’ve been doing this for 35 years and I’ve seen other sports come and go.” He noted that pickleball’s popularity is increasing, with expectations for it to be included in future Olympics.

Typically, a turnkey pickleball court installation costs between $35,000 and $45,000. Kundysek said that NexCourt has shifted from 80% residential and 20% commercial six to seven years ago to 60% residential and 40% commercial today.

NexCourt’s success and adaptability in the ever-changing sports landscape reflect its strong presence in the community. Kundysek’s focus on reliability and trust has helped the business navigate increased competition as the popularity of court sports continues to grow.
