Carson City’s New Pickleball Courts: Starting Monday, April 7, 2025, Spanish Springs Construction will begin building six new pickleball courts at Mills Park in Carson City. The project is expected to be completed by September 1, 2025.
Project Details
The existing tennis courts will be replaced with post-tension concrete pickleball courts. The new facilities will include updated nets and posts, a larger footprint, and separation fencing between the courts. During construction, the existing tennis courts and nearby areas will be closed.
This includes the sidewalk access from N. Pratt Avenue and the grass area east of the Aquatic Facility. Residents are advised to avoid the area to allow the contractor to work safely and efficiently.
Funding Sources
This project is funded by several sources, including an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) federal grant, a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Carson City Quality of Life Capital (1/8 cent sales tax), Carson City Capital Improvement Program funds, and a donation from the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation.
Future Outlook
The addition of new pickleball courts will enhance recreational opportunities in Carson City. By replacing the old tennis courts, the city aims to meet the growing demand for pickleball facilities. Mills Park is managed by the Carson City Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department.
