Sunday Slams Pickleball Tournament: Pickleball players in the 2.5-3.4 skill range will compete at the College Grove Community Center on Sunday, April 6, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The event, called Sunday Slams, offers a round-robin format for advanced beginner players and will award gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Exciting Competition for Advanced Beginner Players
Sunday Slams is open to players ranked 2.5 to 3.4 by USA Pickleball guidelines. The event allows participants to play against and with a variety of opponents, gaining valuable experience in a competitive but fun setting.
No pre-arranged partners are required, as the format pairs individuals randomly. The top three players will be determined based on points earned throughout the matches.
More Than Just a Tournament
In addition to medals, a door prize drawing featuring pickleball-related items will be held. The event is designed to introduce more players to the College Grove pickleball courts at an affordable price. Organizers plan to hold the competition monthly, with potential for increased frequency based on demand.
Outdoor Courts and Weather Considerations
Games will be played on outdoor courts, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and water for comfort. In case of extreme weather, including excessive heat, cold, or rain, the event may be moved indoors. Participants must provide at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations, and no refunds will be issued after the event begins.
Registration and Contact Information
Space is limited, with a four-player minimum required for the event to proceed. Interested participants can contact Jeff (ext. 2116) or Bart (ext. 1965) for more details. The event will be led by instructor Cannon Mayes at the College Grove Community Center.
