Philadelphia’s Racket Revolution: Philadelphia is set to welcome four new multi-sport facilities catering to the growing demand for pickleball, padel, and other racket sports. By June, these venues will open in Northern Liberties, Fishtown, and Kensington, providing new spaces for players of all skill levels.
Ballers: A Multi-Sport Complex
Located at 1325 North Beach Street, Ballers will open in June as a permanent facility after a summer pop-up. It will feature six championship-style pickleball courts, three padel courts, and two squash courts. Additional amenities include a turf field for soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey, as well as a golf area with simulators and a putting green.
Inside the locker rooms, players will find infrared saunas, cold-plunge tanks, and compression therapy. A sports bar and grill, along with a second-floor bar, will provide dining options. While open to the public, membership benefits include early court bookings and discounted parking.
Court 16: Bringing Tennis and Pickleball Together
Court 16, a well-known New York-based racket sports brand, will launch its first Philadelphia location at 1400 North Howard Street on April 7. The 14,000-square-foot facility will include four courts, with different sizes catering to younger players.
The club will offer programs for children aged three and up, including a spring tennis academy. Adult offerings include private and group lessons, leagues, and ball machine training classes. Pricing details are available on the Court 16 website.
Portres Sports Club: Combining Sports and Fitness
Set to open at 901 North Front Street by the end of April, Portres Sports Club will feature four indoor pickleball courts and a Pilates studio with 10 reformers. In the weeks following, the venue will introduce two outdoor padel courts and an indoor/outdoor lounge.
Unique to Portres are fitness classes that integrate pickleball and padel with high-intensity cardio and Pilates fusion workouts. Memberships start at $60 per month, with a limited-time special offering two months for $1.
VIVA Padel & Pickleball Club: Expanding the Sports Scene
Kensington will soon be home to VIVA, a 90,000-square-foot club at 1300 North 8th Street. Opening in May, it will feature four outdoor pickleball and padel courts, along with leagues, tournaments, clinics, and social events.
Additional amenities include a pro shop housed in a renovated 1968 Airstream, a viewing area, showers, and restrooms. Founder Mehdi Rhazali, Drexel University’s tennis program leader, aims to elevate the city’s racket sports community. Memberships range from $60 to $330.
These four openings mark a major expansion for Philadelphia’s racket sports scene, providing new options for players and fitness enthusiasts.
