Swing for History: Join the Exciting Pickleball Challenge Supporting Southold Museum!

Pickleball Challenge Supporting Southold Museum: The 4th Annual Pickleball Tournament benefiting the Southold Historical Museum will take place on Saturday, June 7, at Tasker Park in Peconic. Open to intermediate and advanced players, the event raises funds for the museum while providing a fun and competitive atmosphere. Registration is now open, with limited spots available.

Tournament Format and Registration Details

The tournament features two sessions with different formats. The morning session, from 9 a.m. to noon, follows a change partner, round-robin format. It consists of 48 players divided into three skill-based pools: intermediate, advanced intermediate, and advanced.

The afternoon session, starting at 12:30 p.m., is a competitive team-based event. It follows a double-elimination format, where a player is eliminated after two losses. This session is gender-blind and limited to eight teams per level: 3.5-4.0 and 4.0+. Each participant must register with a partner.

The entry fee is $55 per player, increasing to $60 after April 15. Due to limited spots, early registration is encouraged. Refreshments will be provided. In case of rain, the event will be held on June 8.

Community Support and Event Impact

First held in 2022, the tournament has become a key fundraiser for the Southold Historical Museum. Organizers highlighted the sport’s appeal, stating, “A cross between tennis and racquetball, pickleball is an inspiring sport for people of all ages. Supporters are invited to get moving, take in some fresh air, and make some friends all while supporting Southold Historical Museum.”

The museum expressed gratitude for the volunteers, donors, and local business sponsors who contribute to the event’s success. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
