Brookfield’s Pickleball Boom: New Courts Ignite Local Craze Near Town Hall

Brookfield’s Pickleball Boom: Brookfield residents now have a dedicated space to enjoy pickleball. The town’s first pickleball-only courts officially opened on Friday, March 25. The four courts, located near Town Hall at 100 Pocono Road, provide a long-awaited facility for the growing number of pickleball players in the community.

A Long-Awaited Addition for Local Players

The new courts are the first in town built specifically for pickleball, according to Laura Murphy, director of the Brookfield Department of Parks & Recreation. Previously, players had to rely on multi-use courts at Cadigan Park or Brookfield High School, which were also marked for tennis. The dedicated courts now offer a consistent and reliable place for pickleball enthusiasts to play.

Brookfield resident Meow Lisawat and her 12-year-old son Patrick have been visiting the courts daily since their opening. “We really like playing,” Lisawat said. “Sometimes, we like to play at the high school, too.”

The Growing Popularity of Pickleball

The addition of dedicated courts highlights the sport’s rising popularity in Brookfield and across the country. More players are looking for places to play, and these new courts provide a convenient and accessible space for the community.

As interest in pickleball continues to grow, the new courts could encourage more residents to take up the sport. The town’s investment in dedicated facilities may lead to future expansions or programs to support the increasing demand.
