Puyallup Paddle Battle Brings Pickleball Heat to Washington’s Food Festival

Pickleball players from across the region will gather at the Washington State Fair Event Center in Puyallup, WA, from June 27 to 29, 2025, for the Puyallup Paddle Battle at The Taste NW. Hosted by Pickleball Is Great, this indoor tournament will feature round-robin play on up to 12 courts and will be part of a lively food and entertainment festival.

Fun Competition in a Festival Atmosphere

The tournament will take place inside the Washington State Fair Event Center using Pickleroll mats and Franklin X40 balls. Players are guaranteed a minimum of three matches. The event format includes round-robin play followed by playoffs for gold, silver, and bronze medals in each skill division.

Games begin Friday with women’s doubles, followed by mixed doubles on Saturday and men’s doubles on Sunday. All matches are win by 2 points, and event brackets may be combined based on registration numbers.

The Taste NW, a popular local food festival, will run alongside the tournament, offering free entry to families and fans who want to cheer on players while enjoying great food and entertainment.

Skill Ratings and Tournament Format

This pickleball tournament will use a mix of DUPR, PBR, and self-ratings to group players. “Even though DUPR is the only rating listed for public view, we are using DUPR only as a guideline,” the event organizers explained. Players may only play up 0.5 skill levels from their self-rating.

Each bracket strives to stay close to under 50 and 50+ age ranges. Organizers will determine the final age brackets after registration closes on June 18, 2025. Events may close earlier if daily capacity is reached.

Event Significance and What’s Next

With a $65 entry fee and a minimum of three matches per player, the Puyallup Paddle Battle offers a chance for serious and social players to enjoy competitive games. The event also promotes community spirit by aligning with The Taste NW, drawing visitors and fans to downtown Puyallup.

No refunds will be offered after registration closes, and only up to 50% refunds are available in case of event cancellation due to “Acts of God.” The combination of sport and festival fun makes this tournament a must-see for pickleball fans and a highlight of summer in Washington.
