Swing for Hope: UW-Eau Claire’s Pickleball Tournament Battles Childhood Cancer

Students at UW-Eau Claire are hosting a pickleball tournament on Sunday, April 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the McPhee Center. The event aims to raise money for children with cancer through the Pinky Swear Pack. Players can sign up in doubles for $10 per team or $5 per player.

Pickleball for a Cause

The pickleball tournament is organized by the UW-Eau Claire Pinky Swear Pack and the campus pickleball club. All funds from entry fees go to the Pinky Swear Pack, a group that helps kids with cancer and their families through emotional and financial support.

“I have been honored to see the work that they do firsthand and even speak to some of the children and their families that they serve,” said Audrey Raeker, President of the UWEC Pinky Swear Pack.

Fun and Prizes Included

In addition to the games, the event features a raffle. Participants will have the chance to win high-quality gamma pickleball paddles worth $100. The tournament is open to the public, and the deadline to register is Saturday, April 12.

“It’s a really good organization, so I’m excited. I always feel honored to give back to the foundation in any way I can, and I think this pickleball tournament would be a really good way to see the local community and students come together,” Raeker added.

Supporting a Bigger Mission

Pickleball has been growing in popularity at UW-Eau Claire, making it the perfect choice for a fundraiser. The Pinky Swear Pack hopes the tournament brings awareness and support for families facing childhood cancer.
