Pickleball Marathon World Record: A group of pickleball enthusiasts in North Texas has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest pickleball marathon. The event, which took place at Pickler Universe in Carrollton, lasted 36 hours, surpassing the previous record of 34 hours held by a team in the U.K.

The marathon not only aimed to break a world record but also served as a fundraiser for organ and tissue donation causes. The participants, including Geneva Olson, Mark Olson’s wife, endured a busy weekend to reach the goal.

Event Details and Record-Breaking Effort

Geneva Olson began her marathon effort at 6 a.m. on Saturday. Mark Olson, her husband, supported the team throughout the event. “They’re tired. It’s been a long night,” Mark Olson said, describing the grueling experience.

The event producer, Colby Logan, documented the entire world record attempt.

“It always sounds crazy. It’s unrealistic to do what they’re talking about, but that’s why they it’s a world record. When you do something like that, it brings people together.” – (logan)

The marathon aimed to raise funds for Taylor’s Gift, an organization supporting the families of organ donors. It helps grieving families with emotional support and raises awareness about organ donation.

“Organ donation is this really tricky concept of balancing grief and gratitude at the same time.” – (logan)

“It’s a great cause. We have Taylor’s Gift for organ donation and families that donate organs of loved ones that have passed. They provide support to those families, as well as mental health and suicide, which is close to my wife’s heart.” – (Olson)

Geneva Olson’s preparation for the marathon was intense. She trained extra hard on the treadmill to build the stamina needed for the record attempt.

“We’ve got four daughters, and she wants to prove to her daughters that she can do anything, and they can do anything they put their mind to. She’s been the kind of person that if there’s something she wants to do, she puts her mind to it and gets it done.” – (Olson)
