Golden Eagle Pickleball Tournament: The Golden Eagle Pickleball Club and Southern Miss Wesley are hosting a charity pickleball tournament on April 25 at the University of Southern Mississippi. The event, “Dinkin’ for Gold,” will raise funds for disaster relief following the recent tornado outbreaks in Mississippi. All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to assist communities affected by the severe weather.
Fun for All Skill Levels
The tournament will feature round-robin matches with men’s, women’s, and mixed divisions. Participants can choose their own partners and compete based on their skill level. The event is open to all skill levels, with registration fees set at $15 for the public and $5 for Southern Miss students. “This is our first Pickleball tournament for GEPC and Wesley, so we really wanted to get our names out in the community and create a charity Pickleball tournament,” said Ashlyn Le, vice president of the Golden Eagle Pickleball Club.
Support from Sponsors and Community
Sponsors, including WarpingPoint and Uniqlo, are supporting the event by helping with logistics and providing prizes for participants. “I am pretty excited, I am really looking forward to going against other players while also helping the cause,” said Chad Pham, a club member. “It feels like everyone wins in this in the end.” Spectators are also encouraged to attend, and the event aims to bring the community together while supporting those impacted by the tornadoes.
