Grant-Powered Pickleball Courts Set to Transform Preservation Park by 2026

Preservation Park’s Pickleball Expansion: Town & Country has approved the addition of four new pickleball courts at Preservation Park. The project, set to be finished by spring 2026, was passed by the Board of Aldermen on April 14 with most of the funding coming from a county grant.

Park Improvements Receive Funding Boost

The city entered into a $17,200 professional services agreement with SWT Design to plan the project. The money is part of the city’s 2025 Parks & Stormwater fund. The Municipal Park Grant Commission of St. Louis County will reimburse up to $465,000, covering 80% of the overall project cost.

Pickleball a Key Part of Park Upgrade

The site plan includes four outdoor pickleball courts, part of a broader plan to refresh the park’s amenities. These additions aim to increase opportunities for physical activity and community use. City Administrator Bob Shelton said, “The 80% grant funding the city received will allow a more multifaceted recreation attraction for users.”

Growing Interest in Pickleball Sparks Expansion

The inclusion of pickleball courts reflects the growing popularity of the sport. The courts are expected to draw players of all ages and skill levels, adding to the park’s overall appeal.

“The current playground is beyond its useful life. There will be adult and youth activity to go along with the beautiful pavilion which can be rented and the nature trails nearby.” – (Shelton)
