Ace Pickleball Club’s Expansion: Ace Pickleball Club is set to open a new location in Moorestown, New Jersey, this fall after gaining approval from the Moorestown Zoning Board. The club will take over a large space in the East Gate Square shopping center and feature 11 courts for players of all skill levels.
Club Offers Easy Access and Community Play
The new Moorestown facility will cover 32,950 square feet. It will occupy the former Michael’s and part of the old Staples space. The open-play model allows players to drop in at any time without booking in advance. Members can also reserve courts for free.
“Our business model is built around open play,” said Ira Krassen, a franchisee of Ace Pickleball Club.
“The idea being that you don’t have to have a group, you just come out to our facility … and you just play a game.” – (Krassen)
Welcoming New Players
Ace Pickleball Club is known for its beginner-friendly setup. New players can sign up for “Pickleball 101,” a free session that includes basic instruction and loaner paddles.
“For new players, we have what we call the pickleball one on one, where you can sign up, come on out and – for free – we will teach you some of the rules. We’ll provide you with a paddle to play with, so you can come out and experience pickleball for free on your first time out.” – (Krassen)
“And for newer players, you’re playing with people who have never played before, and we encourage you to stay after that pickleball one-on-one session and play with the people who you just took the class with, and that’s how you really build your community and get comfortable playing with people and get comfortable with the sport.” – (Krassen)
Events and Skill-Based Court Rotation
Each Ace Pickleball Club offers clinics, tournaments, round robins, social mixers, and private events. Courts are organized by skill level, so players can join in without needing to coordinate matches. Krassen emphasized the accessibility of the sport for people of all backgrounds.
“Anybody can get out and play pickleball, in any physical condition. (We’ve) had so many members that are using pickleball for the first time in their lives to play a physical activity that will help them get in shape, and they feel comfortable, and they’re not worried about injuring themselves.” – (Krassen)
Fastest-Growing Sport in the Country
Pickleball was named the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. for the third year in a row, according to the 2023 Topline Participation Report by the Sports and Fitness Industry Association. The report, cited by USA Pickleball, notes 8.9 million players in the U.S. aged six and older—up from 4.8 million in 2022.
The sport’s popularity has grown globally, with new clubs and national organizations emerging across continents.
“The beautiful thing about this sport is that anybody can play at any skill level.” – (Krassen)
