Brooke Revuelta Pickleball Military Tour: Kendall native Brooke Revuelta, 19, spent three weeks in March visiting 12 U.S. military bases across six countries to teach and promote pickleball. As part of the Armed Forces Entertainment Goodwill Pro Pickleball Military Tour, she shared the sport with troops and their families overseas.
Brooke was one of four professional pickleball athletes selected for the tour, and the only one from Miami. The group traveled to Turkey, Kosovo, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Spain. Brooke led clinics, played exhibitions, and organized games to help boost morale and build connections.
Honoring Her Military Roots
Brooke has strong ties to the military through her family. Her great-grandfather, Major Robert Vories Abram, flew B-24 bombers in World War II. Her grandfather, James Newton Abram, served in Vietnam. Her stepfather, Jose Gonzalez, was a staff sergeant stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division and 154th Engineer Battalion.
“Being chosen for this Goodwill Pro Pickleball Military Tour was one of the greatest honors of my career — not just as a professional pickleball player, but as someone who comes from a proud military family,” Brooke said.
During Military Appreciation Month in May, Brooke reflected on the purpose behind the tour.
“During Military Appreciation Month, it means even more to reflect on the strength, sacrifice, and spirit of our service members. This tour wasn’t just about teaching pickleball — it was about saying thank you, building connections and giving back to those who give everything,” she said.
Inspiring Through Sport and Service
Brooke first began playing pickleball in February 2023. Since then, she has grown into a rising professional player known for her energy and left-handed play. Her background includes Cuban, Vietnamese and American heritage.
In addition to her military tour, Brooke has led local clinics. Last November, she visited Our Pride Academy, a nonprofit school in Kendall for students with developmental disabilities. There, she coached their Special Olympics pickleball team. She described the event as inspiring and hopes to return for more training sessions this year.
Leaving a Lasting Impact
As the youngest pro ever selected for the Goodwill Pro Pickleball Military Tour, Brooke played a key role in promoting the sport abroad. She and her teammates coached U.S. troops and their families, held clinics, and played in tournaments alongside the base communities.
“I learned so much from the troops and their families, and I’ll carry those experiences with me for the rest of my life,” Brooke said. “Pickleball brought us together, but the camaraderie and mutual respect made it unforgettable.”
Brooke’s efforts on the tour show how sports can unite people and provide joy, even in serious settings. Her story is a reminder of the power of giving back and the growing reach of pickleball around the world.
