Flint’s Pickleball Paddle Battle: On Saturday, May 3, the YWCA in Flint hosted the Pickleball Paddle Battle at the 810 Sports Complex. The event brought together local pickleball players and supporters to raise money for people affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.
Community Comes Together for a Cause
The Pickleball Paddle Battle was open to everyone, from seasoned players to first-timers. The tournament included fun games, food and drinks, a wall ball competition, and a silent auction. A 50-50 raffle was also held to help collect more donations. Theresa Hurley, Director of Development for the YWCA, said,
“It’s an opportunity for people in our community to come out and learn a little bit more about the YWCA while also supporting a great cause. We’re into not only helping people through domestic violence and sexual assault, but also about their mind and their health and wellness.” – (Hurley)
Supporting the YWCA’s Mission
All money raised will go to the YWCA’s programs in Flint. These programs help women, promote peace, and work to end racism. The YWCA also provides support and resources for people healing from abuse.
A Lasting Impact for Flint
This event was more than a sports competition. It helped bring attention to serious issues and gave the community a way to help. With the money raised, the YWCA can continue offering support and hope to those in need.
