Huntsville Pickleball Club Serves Up Hope: Charity Pickleball Tournament Transforms Lives of People

The Huntsville Pickleball Club held the 2025 Pickleball on the Moon tournament over the weekend at the Sandra Moon Community Center. The event raised money for the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Center’s Patient Assistance Fund, which helps women cover basic living costs during breast cancer treatment.

Helping Patients in Need

All proceeds from the tournament support women going through breast cancer. The Patient Assistance Fund helps pay for things like rent, electric bills, and car payments when patients are unable to work. Event Chair Judy Hayes shared how the support makes a difference.

“It’s a very expensive cancer to treat, and because of that, women will be in situations where maybe they can’t pay their electric bill or their car payment or their insurance.” – (Judy Hayes)

“This is a way to come alongside them and say, hey, we want you to continue cancer treatment, we don’t want you to give that up, so we’re going to give you some assistance.” – (Judy Hayes)

A Tournament with a Bigger Goal

The tournament brought together the pickleball community not just to play, but to give back. The event was a chance for players and spectators to help local women stay strong during treatment by easing some of their financial stress.

Lasting Impact

This annual pickleball tournament is more than a sport—it’s a way to show care and support. By raising funds through pickleball, the Huntsville Pickleball Club is helping breast cancer patients focus on healing without worrying as much about bills. Events like this help build strong communities through kindness and teamwork.
