Pickleball Kingdom in Tigard: Pickleball Kingdom, the world’s largest indoor pickleball franchise, is opening a new facility in Tigard, Oregon. The center will feature 13 indoor courts inside the old Bed Bath & Beyond building at 16800 Southwest 72nd Avenue. A late summer 2025 opening is planned to meet growing demand.
The 42,000-square-foot building once housed a Bed Bath & Beyond store, which closed in summer 2023 after the company went bankrupt and shut down all its stores across the U.S. Pickleball Kingdom will transform the space into a top-tier indoor pickleball venue.
A Major Step for Pickleball in Portland
This new facility adds to Portland’s fast-growing pickleball scene. It will offer not just courts but coaching and clinics, youth programs, and organized leagues and tournaments.
“We are incredibly excited to expand into the Portland area and bring Pickleball Kingdom to Tigard,” said Ace Rodrigues, founder and CEO of Pickleball Kingdom.
“Portland has a thriving pickleball community, and we are committed to providing players with a world-class indoor facility where they can enjoy the game year-round. This location will be a game-changer for the region.” – (Rodrigues)
The Tigard location will be managed by Gunn Robison. He said the team has been working for a long time to find the right site for a facility like this in the area.
“We finally have found the right space and location to bring a location to Tigard. We look forward to joining this passionate community of players across all skill levels while continuing to grow the community and sport in the Portland area.” – (Robison)
Growing Popularity Fuels New Courts
Pickleball Kingdom is not the only group bringing new courts to the region. In February 2024, Jumbo’s Pickleball opened a facility in Beaverton. That nine-court center is located in the former Indoor Goals soccer building and spans 27,000 square feet.
A report shared by Business Insider in August 2023 showed the sport’s rapid rise. It estimated that 25,000 new pickleball courts are needed nationwide to meet current player needs. That same report said the average age of a pickleball player is 35, but people of all ages enjoy it—from older adults to Generation Z, those born between 1997 and 2012.
What This Means for the Community
The Tigard facility is expected to help meet demand for indoor courts and make pickleball more accessible. With year-round play, structured programs, and support for all skill levels, Pickleball Kingdom’s arrival could be a big boost for serious players and new fans in the area.
