Pickleball Court at Beacon Park: Two new pickleball courts are now open in downtown Detroit at Beacon Park. The courts are available for public use every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. through June 15, unless reserved for weekday leagues or weekend events. The courts are located next to the Lumen restaurant at 1903 Grand River Avenue. Come Play Detroit worked with the park to make the courts available. A tournament will take place on Sunday, May 25.
Pickleball Comes to the City Center
Beacon Park, surrounded by some of Michigan’s tallest buildings, is now home to pickleball. The courts give local residents and visitors a place to play outdoors in the middle of the city.
The area has been designed for easy access. The courts are free and work on a first come, first serve system. However, they may be reserved for special events or leagues.
Tournament Set for May 25
Come Play Detroit is planning a pickleball tournament at Beacon Park on Sunday, May 25. Details on the event are expected soon. The courts have been placed right beside Lumen, a well-known local restaurant, adding to the lively downtown setting.
Players of all ages are welcome to enjoy the courts throughout the day. As long as no league or event is scheduled, anyone can step onto the court and join a game.
Growing Interest in Urban Pickleball
The launch of these courts shows how fast pickleball is growing in cities. The setup in Beacon Park makes the sport easy to try, even for people who live or work nearby. It also adds a fun activity to a busy downtown area.
This kind of public space can encourage more people to stay active and bring more attention to pickleball. With a big tournament planned soon, the new courts are likely to draw even more players and fans to Beacon Park.
