Fern Creek Park Pickleball Courts: Mayor Craig Greenberg, Councilman Kevin Bratcher of District 22, and leaders from Louisville Parks and Recreation gathered with residents to celebrate new sports facilities at Fern Creek Park. Six pickleball courts and two tennis courts were officially opened after $265,000 in city funds were used for the project.
The new courts replace older tennis courts at the park, which is located at 8703 Ferndale Road in Louisville, Kentucky. These upgrades are part of the city’s plan to improve parks across the area. Fern Creek is one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in the city, making this park investment especially important.
Park Upgrades Through the Years
Fern Creek Park has seen many improvements in the last five years. In 2019, the Miracle League of Louisville helped pay for an all-inclusive playground and a baseball field. More recently, the park added new restrooms and updated the pavilion space to better serve visitors.
“As we continue to invest in our parks, we are making them safer and more enjoyable for everyone,” said Mayor Craig Greenberg.
“I’m particularly excited for these upgrades at Fern Creek Park, in one of the fastest growing parts of our city, which will be a nice complement to the new Fern Creek Library opening next year.” – (Greenberg)
A Park Built for the Community
Fern Creek Park is a large public space used by kids and adults. It offers open fields for sports, walking trails, playgrounds, and shaded picnic areas. The new tennis and pickleball courts add even more options for outdoor fun.
“We are so grateful for all of the support we have received in transforming Fern Creek Park into the vibrant community space it is today,” said Michelle King, Executive Director of Louisville Parks and Recreation.
“The park is a shining example of how thoughtful enhancements can create a welcoming environment, offering a variety of amenities for Fern Creek residents and others to enjoy, including our new tennis and pickleball courts.” – (Michelle King)
Building for the Future
This latest upgrade shows the city’s commitment to making parks better for all residents. With more people moving to the Fern Creek area, these new courts will give families more ways to stay active and enjoy time together. The addition of the new Fern Creek Library next year will further improve the area.
