Gabriela Pickleball Charity Tournament: A free pickleball tournament called “Project Gabriela: Rally for a Cause” will take place on May 17, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at ITP Training Academy, 3110 Presidential Drive, Atlanta, Georgia. The event aims to raise awareness about Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), a serious disease that affects premature babies. The charity tournament honors NEC Awareness Day and supports the Gabriela Grace Foundation.
Tournament Format and Structure
The event will feature a doubles pickleball tournament with 16 teams competing. Entry is free, but donations are welcome. All proceeds will go to the Gabriela Grace Foundation to support efforts in spreading awareness and educating people about NEC.
Each team is guaranteed to play at least three matches. The tournament will start with pool play, where the 16 teams are divided into four groups of four. The top team from each group will then move on to a single-elimination playoff round.
Prizes and Free Play Opportunities
Winners of the playoff will receive brand-new pickleball paddles donated by Bread & Butter Pickleball Co. After the main matches, players can enjoy open court time with fun and casual games, allowing for friendly play and community interaction.
Inclusive Environment for All Skill Levels
The event encourages players of all abilities to participate. Whether experienced or new to the game, everyone is welcome to join the fun and support a meaningful cause.
Support for Families and Future Impact
NEC is a life-threatening condition that mainly impacts premature infants. By raising awareness through events like this, the Gabriela Grace Foundation hopes to reduce the number of families affected in the future.
