Montauk Pickleball Club Scores Liquor License: Two upcoming businesses in St. Charles, Illinois, received liquor licenses during the City Council meeting on May 5. Whole Foods Market and Montauk Pickleball Club were approved without discussion. These approvals came during the final meeting of former Mayor Lora Vitek and were part of the council’s omnibus vote.
Whole Foods Market Prepares to Open
Whole Foods Market is currently transforming the old Blue Goose Market at 300 South Second Street. The store is expected to open by July. According to the company’s website, the new location is set to launch in “early summer” and is hiring for 46 open jobs as of May 11.
The city approved an A-2 liquor license for the grocery store. This license allows Whole Foods Market to sell packaged alcohol, such as beer and wine, that customers must take home to consume.
Montauk Pickleball Club Plans Taking Shape
Montauk Pickleball Club, LLC, also received a liquor license for its facility under construction at 100 North Kirk Road. This site is near the Jewel-Osco on the east side of St. Charles. The club was approved for a B-3 liquor license and a late-night permit. This will allow the business to sell and serve alcohol until 2 a.m.
Montauk Pickleball Club is part of the larger Fox Haven Square project. The development is being built by Greco Investment Management, LLC, based in Bartlett. Fox Haven Square will feature four buildings around a central plaza on a 7.5-acre property at the corner of Kirk Road and Route 64.
Montauk Pickleball Club will include indoor pickleball courts, Bocce, duckpin bowling, a restaurant, and a bar that will show sports events. The club is expected to open by March 2026.
Additional Tenants at Fox Haven Square
Other businesses expected at Fox Haven Square include:
- Fire and Wine, created by BG Hospitality Group (which owns Gia Mia, Livia Italian Eatery, and moto|imoto),
- Taco Mucho,
- Rosebud Steakhouse, and
- A sports bar and brewery.
These restaurants and venues will bring more dining and entertainment options to the east side of St. Charles once construction is complete.
Future Impact on the Community
The liquor license approvals are a step forward for Whole Foods Market and Montauk Pickleball Club. These new additions are expected to bring jobs, increase local shopping and dining options, and help boost the economy. The projects show how St. Charles continues to grow and attract new businesses.
