The club’s leaders hope to match the success of other regional clubs, such as the Longview Pickleball Club, which boasts over 400 members. The Texarkana Pickleball Club aims to reach 400 to 500 members within its first year.
Club Goals and Tournaments
Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, ping pong, and badminton. The courts are smaller than tennis courts, which makes the game accessible to all skill levels.
The Texarkana Pickleball Club plans to host at least two large tournaments per year, with the potential to expand to four tournaments in the future. These events will attract players from neighboring cities like Shreveport, Little Rock, and Dallas.
Expanding Facilities
Texarkana currently has just six public outdoor pickleball courts, all located at the Southwest Center. The club is working with the City of Texarkana, Texas, to increase the number of courts to 12, helping to reduce overcrowding and support the growing popularity of the sport.
First Major Membership Event
The club’s first major membership event will take place on May 31 at the Southwest Center. The event will feature food trucks, music, pickleball instruction, and open play. This gathering is expected to attract many locals and help spread awareness about the new club and its activities.
