Smashers Pickleball Facility: Construction is moving quickly at Smashers, a new indoor and outdoor pickleball facility being built in San Angelo. Located at 2521 Southwest Boulevard, across from Cavender’s, the building now has walls and a roof. Owners JC and Amber Gallagher expect the project to be finished by the end of August.
The $5 million facility received a commercial permit in November 2024. Once completed, Smashers will include seven indoor pickleball courts, two outdoor pickleball courts, one indoor tennis court, and a full bar and restaurant. It will also have 10,000 square feet of outdoor play space for kids and yard games.
Idea Born from Local Tournament
JC and Amber Gallagher came up with the idea after playing in the “Dink for Pink” pickleball tournament at Bentwood Country Club. That event inspired them to build a space where local players could enjoy indoor courts year-round.
“We are both really excited to be able to provide this facility to San Angelo and are praying for great success.” – (Gallagher)
Facility Features for All Ages
Smashers will offer more than just pickleball. It will include a shaded kids’ play area and space for games like corn hole. The restaurant and full bar are expected to draw families and casual visitors.
Construction crews are continuing to make progress on-site, with major parts of the building already in place. Once finished, the facility is set to offer a fresh option for sports and leisure in San Angelo.
What Comes Next
The opening of Smashers is expected to bring new energy to the city’s sports scene. It adds a year-round indoor option for local players and families, expanding recreation choices. The business may also boost nearby areas with increased traffic and activity as it becomes a new gathering spot for the community.
