Inside Pickleland: Austin’s First Indoor Pickleball Hub Redefines the Game and Builds Community

Austin’s First Indoor Pickleball Hub: Alejandro Roja, a passionate pickleball player, has opened Pickleland—the first indoor pickleball facility in the Austin area. Located in Pflugerville, Texas, Pickleland was created to meet growing demand for quality indoor pickleball courts and provide a welcoming space for all skill levels to play and connect.

After discovering pickleball two years ago, Alejandro Roja quickly saw the sport’s fast growth and the lack of indoor courts in Austin. Wanting to help the sport grow, he began planning a new kind of facility built around player feedback and experience.

Research and Planning

To prepare for Pickleland, Alejandro Roja traveled across the United States. He visited top pickleball centers and spoke with owners and managers to learn what makes a great facility. He also met over 130 local players in Austin to find out what they wanted most in a new indoor space.

Pickleland was designed with all of that information in mind. It offers open play, leagues, and social events, creating a full community around the game.

Facility and Location

Pickleland is located at 21427 Martin Lane in Pflugerville, Texas, just outside of Austin. It is a fully indoor facility with no support columns or shared lines, giving players a clear, focused playing space.

Because it is indoors, games are never affected by heat, wind, or rain. Players can count on a great experience no matter the season.

Community and Programs

Pickleland hosts a wide range of events like Ladies Night, Junior open play, and Family sessions. It also runs Social Sundays, where players can join activities like karaoke and group dinners outside the facility. The facility serves snacks, beer, wine, and energy drinks. There is also a comfortable lounge for relaxing between games.

Pickleland has many affordable membership choices based on when players want to attend. It also offers open play throughout the day, organized by DUPR rating levels so players can find fair matches.

What Makes Pickleland Special

Pickleland is not just a court—it’s a community. With league matches, group events, and regular social mixers, players feel welcome and included. The facility also hosts business outings and themed gatherings to bring people together through the game. Pickleland’s Slack group includes over 2,500 members. Alejandro Roja uses the group to stay in touch with players and get ideas.

Looking Ahead

Pickleland fills a gap for pickleball in the Austin area. It gives players a high-quality place to play indoors and connect with others. With more people joining every day, Pickleland may help lead the next phase of growth for the sport in Central Texas.
